The Lower Thames Street shopping district of Newport starts a the intersection of America's Cup Avenue, and Thames Street. Lower Thames Street runs south to Webster street. The right hand (west) side of the street is the waterfront side. In years past this whole area was where boats & ships were built, fixed and docked. Today, this historic area still has many wharfs where people dock their boats. Along the street and on many of the wharfs there are many different types of restaurants and unique shops and boutiques. This really is what you would expect Newport to be like. This area has a little something for everyone. Walk the street go visit some of the stores and go down the wharfs, you will get some great picture opportunities.
