2 First Annual Celtic Invitational

Saturday, 11am-5pm (rain date May 3)
Pipe & Drum exhibition held on the Parade Field. Additional entertainment and activities will include live musical entertainment, Irish Step Dance Groups, Rugby Demonstration, Irish Soda Bread Competition, display booths. Food and beverage will be available for purchase throughout the day.Admission: $5 Individual; $15 Family; Free 12 & Under. Tours of Historic Fort Adams will be given throughout the day (fee applies). Saturday, 11am – 4pm (rain date June 7) Admission is FREE for the entire family. 19 Fort Adams Trust Fundraiser Summer solstice celebration
Friday, 7pm – 11pm
This fundraiser is to benefit the Fort Adams Trust and to celebrate the Summer Solstice. A moveable feast with beer/wine pairings will be featured from 7pm – 9pm in the three restored areas of the Fort (North Casemates, Museum and Overnight Barracks). Dessert and dancing under a tent on the North Lawn (overlooking the Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay) from 8:30pm – 11pm will feature live entertainment. July 2009:
18 & 19 Civil War Living History Weekend
Saturday 10am – 5pm & Sunday 10am – 4pm
Two days of living-history activities will bring the sights and sounds of the Civil War to Historic Fort Adams. Events begin at 10am on both days and include re-enactors in authentic uniforms and dress carrying out dramatic simulations of assaults on Fort Adams, as well as re-creations of the daily life of soldiers and civilians during the 1860’s. Visitors will travel back in time and experience the Union and Confederate camps. Some of the activities include infantry and cavalry drills, medical scenarios, a court martial and punishment, 19th century rules baseball game, a pie auction and living history programs. The weekend is hosted by the Fort Adams Trust with support from the RI Dept of Environmental Management, New England Brigade and the Liberty Grays. Admission: $10 Adults, $5 Children (6-17) Free 5 & Under $25 Family (2 adults & up to 4 children) Half price readmission for Sunday will be available. 15 11th Annual Newport Storm Luau
Saturday, 5pm – 10pm (rain date August 16)
Newport Storm Luau presented by Coastal Extreme Brewing Company. This annual event is to benefit the Fort Adams Trust. The event includes live music, Polynesian Dancers, Hawaiian themed food, including a pig roast and ice cold Newport Storm beer and Thomas Tew rum. This is a benefit for the Fort Adams Trust. The Festival is presented and managed by Ferguson & D’Arruda Antiques, Wickenden Street, Providence. As many as 100 dealers will be featured offering a wide range of items. Several professional appraisers will be on-site during the afternoon to appraise your antique items. Early buyers 8am – 10am. General public 10am – 5pm.

4 8th Annual Fort Adams in the Fall Car Festival
Sunday, 9am – 3pm
Presented by the Middletown Rotary Club. Located on the North Lawn of Historic Fort Adams. A display of over 200 cars, trucks and vans are featured. Prizes are awarded in a variety of classes. Food and beverage available for purchase.

Ticket sales begin at 6:30PM and end at 9:00PM each evening
The Fort Adams Trust presents Fortress of Nightmares during the last two weekends in October. Starting at 7pm, historic Fort Adams will unleash the restless spirits of its past on special haunted tours. You will make your way through spooky areas of the Fort not usually seen on regular tours, and you will hear eerie, bizarre and macabre tales of the Fort’s long history and legends from the resident “spirits” themselves. Unlike many haunted attractions Fortress is based upon the legends and folklore that surround Fort Adams and in a creepy atmosphere of Fort Adams After Dark. Admission $10 per person Tours are weather dependent and sturdy footwear is required. Volunteers needed! Flag Raising Ceremony-Sunday, October 28th

The Ceremony inside the Fort included a brief speaking program, introduction of former Fort residents and the playing of our National Anthem followed by a cannon salute and the historic raising of the American flag at its original Civil War location.

After the Ceremony participants enjoyed Free tours of the Fort, a Cannon
Demonstration and viewed Displays of Planned Restoration of Fort Adams.
