Located at 110 John Street, between Pearl and Cliff Streets, the Open Door features updated versions of all your favorites’Äîplus some new ones-in a gracious, inviting atmosphere, accented by genuine Georgian doors, direct from Ireland.
The large curving bar in front is perfect for catching a drink after work, and a wide selection of table options, from cozy booths to round tables for 6 or more, allows us to accommodate groups of many different sizes. Additionally, our large back room with private entrance is available for parties of up to 100 people, with either buffet or prix fixe options.
An upscale gastropub in the Financial District is not exactly the sort of place you'd expect to find an "open door policy," but we'll be damned if this new place ain't perfectly named. First of all, the bouncer actually smiles while he happily ushers you to an open barstool. What the what? Is Open Door and intergalactic portal that leads to a bizarre planet with humanoid-like avatars who are...friendly? After all, there's also a long, elegant bar with a series of mini-chandeliers hanging overhead, not to mention an older, sophisticated crowd, enjoying the Sinatra piping softly through the speakers...Here's hoping this Door is always open. -Schecky's NYC Nightlife
Add one more to the "upscale Gastropub" you've no doubt been compiling. With an "open door" policy (the door is always open until they close at 4 a.m.), Open Door has pub food inspired by just about every cuisine. On the more traditional side, there's bangers and mash, a steak sandwich with horseradish mayo and crab cake sliders. Or you could step it up with truffled bleu cheese fries, tuna nachos with wonton chips or crispy duck confit. Entrees run between $16 and $22. Their brunch menu looks a little more creative, with pear and walnut French toast with cinnamon cream, and a pork belly eggs Benedict. You can wash it down with a traditional Mimosa, or a "Man-mosa," made with Blue Moon, Absolut Mandarin and orange juice. Hopefully it's as strong as it sounds. -Gothamist
