Greenwich Symphony Orchestra Season

For nearly 50 years, the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra has enhanced the town's musical scene. Lead solists are drawn from an elite pool of guest musicans across the nation. Acting Company of Greenwich

Running from September-May, this volunteer theater company presents thoughtful, entertaining productions of reputable plays. The 2006-2007 calendar features Neil Simon's Broadway Bound and Yasmina Reza's Art. Since 2004, the company has also offered a one-act play festival, the Havemeyer Playwright Competition. Senior and student discounts offered for Sunday matinees only. Performances are held in the auditorium of First Congregational Church. February 8th through February 23rd, 2008
Greenwich Choral Society Season

Since 1925, Greenwich Choral Society has provided the community with beautiful concerts of renowned works and graced stages abroad, including those in England, the Czeck Republic, Spain, Italy and France. The 2006-2007 calendar features Brahms' German Requiem with the Stamford Symphony Orchestra and a concert of works of Beethoven. Local events are held at various venues, such as the Norwalk Concert Hall and the Palace Theater in Stamford. Advance tickets recommended. March 16th through May 4th, 2008

ISD Renaissance Festival

Attention, lords and ladies! With jousting knights and a royal court , this fundraiser appeals to lovers of drama and literature – and anyone with an imagination. Merchants, from jewelry makers to fortune tellers, line the open air market, where you'll find many unusual crafts and souvenirs. Greenwich Pops Concert

South Norwalk Oyster Festival

Fabulous oysters, of course, are the main attraction at this popular festival, but when the shuckin' get old there's plenty to see and do. Games, rides and facepainting make it a must for families, and each year promises a terrific lineup of live bands. In 2006, Bo Bice, Asia and Dion made appearances on the stage. Stamford becomes a winter wonderland in January, and the Stamford Museum and Nature Center helps celebrate the season with Winterfest. The annual event, which started in the late 1980s, offers sled rides, hayrides, and ice sculptures. There is even ample opportunity to get close to live reindeer. Art in Public Spaces

Greek Festival

This annual Hellenic celebration celebrates the area's Greek community. The event, held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church during the month of June, showcases folk dances, homemade food, and cultural exhibits. Giant Balloon Parade Spectacular

The Giant Balloon Parade Spectacular, held in November to kick off the holiday season, features some 30 giant helium balloon entries. Parading one-by-one down the streets of downtown Stamford, the baloons float above an average crowd of 200,000 people. Most attendees travel from the surrounding area just to catch a glimpse of characters like Gumby waving hello. This small town Connecticut parade is the biggest balloon event of its kind in America. To really get into the spirit, stop by the Inflation Party the night before. This heady event takes place along Summer Street, where the parade actually begins. November 23, 2008
